Recipes

There are dozens of ways to eat our delicious toffee and chocolate waffles. Most of them you will discover for yourself! If you create a recipe that you feel we should know about we would be delighted if you could let us know.

1. Simplicious Coffee
This junction of the words 'simple' and 'delicious' really stands for the content of this recipe.

Preparation:
Just place a toffee waffle above a mug of coffee, cappuccino, tea or hot chocolate. Wait a minute and you will have a delicious slightly warmed waffle.

However for a crisper biscuit, try warming the waffke on a pre-heated flat griddle or pan until the toffee begins to soften, or place in a microwave very briefly. (remember toffee can burn if too hot!)

2. Boozy BanaToffee
You will need:
Toffee Waffles
Bananas
Demerara Sugar
Brandy
Double Cream

Preparation:
Gently warm a Toffee Waffle (per person) in a flat pan or griddle - adding NO FAT - until Toffee is slightly softened. Turn briefly and place on slightly warmed plate(s).

Heat some butter in a pan, adding sliced bananas and Demerara Sugar. Leave to brown a little and the Sugar to caramelise. Turn once then add a little BRANDY towards the end. Spoon onto pre-warmed Toffee Waffle.

In the same pan add some double cream and a little more BRANDY if you choose, warming slightly and blending then pour over to your delectation!

Note: For children etc use no Brandy. (And just call it something else!!)

3. Ice-Cream with waffle quarters & fresh fruit

You will need:
Toffee or chocolate waffles
Ice-Cream (whatever you like)
150 gr. fresh fruit (e.g. Raspberries, Strawberries or Fruits of the Forest
Whipped cream

Preparation:
Put a couple of scoops of ice-cream in a well chilled glass. Sprinkle half of the fruit over the ice-cream and add some more ice-cream. Sprinkle the rest of the fruit over the ice-cream and add the whipped cream. Finally warm (only toffee waffles) the waffles and slice in half, placing each half next to the ice-cream. Enjoy.

4. Tregroes Waffles with banana and penderyn and whiskey sauce This recipe was made by Dudley the Chef on his television programme on S4C

Ingredients:
2 Tregroes Waffles
2 Tablespoons of soft brown sugar
25g of butter
2 Bananas

Preparation:
Heat a knife in hot water and use to cut the waffles in half to create 2 rounded discs.

Melt the sugar and butter together in a frying pan.

Cook the bananas in the butter and sugar mixture

Add the whiskey and set alight to flambe the mixture.

Place one disc in the centre of each plate (toffee side up) and share out the banana mixture evenly. Place the other waffle halves on top of the banana mixture (toffee side down).

To serve:
Serve with a generous spoonful of the cream, a sprig of fresh mint, and lightly sprinkle icing sugar over the plate.
